About Solo Breast Pump

Solo™, the next generation and enhanced version of the Swing™ breast pump family from Medela, was developed thinking of breastfeeding mothers, who seek comfort and practicality in their lives, without compromising or losing effectiveness.

Solo™ uses the 2-Phase Expression® technology, which alternates from fast to slower sucking rhythms, mimicking the baby’s natural rhythm.

Solo™ comes with PersonalFit Flex™ breast shield that can be easily adjusted to fit your breast, making your pumping more comfortable and giving you up to 11.8% more milk3.

Solo™ is more compact than the Swing™ breast pump and has a built-in rechargeable battery with USB type C connector, saving you time and allowing you to use it without having to recharge for up to six pumping sessions.

Solo™ is a single electric breast pump with closed system, that prevents breast milk from entering the tubing, overflowing and leaking into the pump mechanism. This helps ensure that your expressed milk stays safe and clean, but also that your pump's components are protected from potential damage.

Benefits of PersonalFit Flex Breast Shield

With a unique breast shield that you can adjust to your individual shape, Medela’s latest innovation was developed to make expressing easier and more effective. When you’re expressing milk for your baby, you want the experience to be as easy as possible. Flex™ is a big step forward in breast-pumping technology. Developed with the help of a team of research scientists and breastfeeding mums, Flex™ technology breast pumps are the first pumps designed to adapt to fit your shape for more efficient, comfortable expression.

  • The first breast pump shield designed to adapt to your shape – rotates 360°, four tunnel sizes, flexible rim
  • Overflow protection (closed system) so you can pump sitting in a position that works for you
  • Developed following four clinical studies and shown to improve milk flow

FAQs

How do you clean Medela Solo™?
To clean Medela Solo™ follow the same procedures as for the Swing Flex™ breast pump. Solo™ is quick and easy to disassemble and clean. You can wash the components (except for the tubing) manually or use the dishwasher.
For further information and instructions on how to clean and sanitise the tubing, please read our Instructions for use.

How do you sterilise a Medela Solo™ pump?
Sterilising and sanitising are two different things that sound similar. Sterilisation is a procedure that can only be performed in a special lab, normally this happens for hospital products. Sanitising can be done at home. It is easy to sanitise your Medela Solo™, follow the same simple steps as for Swing Flex™ breast pump: cover the disassembled, washed parts, except for the tubing, with water and boil at least for 5 minutes or use the microwaveable Medela Quick Clean bags. For further information and instructions on how to clean and sanitise the tubing, please read our Instructions for use.

How do you use Medela Solo™?
Solo™, the next generation of Medela Swing Flex™ electric breast pump, was designed to be easy to use thanks to intuitive controls. This user-friendly pump has only four buttons, and simple icons show the main functions. It comes with nine pre-programmed settings to make it easy for you to choose your Maximum Comfort Vacuum™ level. Learn more about how to use the breast pump and its functions in our Instructions for use.

Why is my Medela Solo™ Pump losing suction?
The reasons a breast pump may lose suction vary. There are a few steps that you should take to verify your Solo™ breast pump. Please read more about this in the section Troubleshooting in our Instructions for use file.

Can I turn my single breast pump into a double?
Solo™ is a single electric breast pump. This means that its motor is not suitable for generating sufficient vacuum to extract milk from both breasts at the same time. If you express milk regularly and are interested in a double electric breast pump you should consider Medela’s new Swing Maxi™. Double pumping not only saves you time by making pumping twice as fast but also gives you up to 18% more milk.
