FAQs

Why was the Explore updated in 2024?

Based on customer feedback, we've updated our popular Classic Explore carrier with a sleek, minimalist design. We’ve hidden the seat buttons and added a convenient storage pocket for the head support pillow. We’ve also included our Lumbar Support for optimal fit and comfort. These changes enhance the carrier’s appearance while preserving the fit and features you have come to love.

The Explore has featured upgrades in 2024 – what changed?

We’re thrilled to introduce the updated Explore carrier with several enhancements:

  • Coordinating Lumbar Support for added comfort.
  • Enhanced Storage with a new pocket and a convenient key loop.
  • Polished Design featuring hidden adjustable seat buttons, new cream webbing and buckles, and interchangeable hood designs compatible with our Free to Grow carrier hoods

*These upgrades aim to improve your experience while keeping the beloved features of the Classic Explore.

*The updated pocket, lumbar, and key loop will not be added to other carrier models.

Will you still be making the Classic Explore?

Once our current inventory is gone, we will no longer be offering the Classic Explore. We’re excited about the new features and improvements in the updated Explore carrier.

We encourage you to explore the new Explore carrier.

Which Explore should I buy?
Both the Classic Explore and the new Explore carriers are excellent choices, supporting babies from 7 to 45 pounds and offering the same carrying positions.

The new Explore features updates such as Lumbar Support, slimmer straps, and enhanced storage options.

Both carriers provide the same great fit and support for baby, with slightly different looks and features.

When choosing a carrier, you'll cant to consider which features align best with your family's needs and lifestyle.

Does the Explore still fit the same as the Classic Explore?

Both the Classic Explore and the newly updated Explore models offer a similar fit and comfort. The new Explore features a sleek design that enhances visibility for newborns. We've also introduced slimmer, contoured straps that provide a less bulky feel without sacrificing comfort. Additionally, the updated Explore now includes a Lumbar Support for extra back support, which is available separately for the Classic Explore.

Do I need an Infant Insert for the Explore?

The Explore carrier is adjustable in size from newborn to toddler and can be used from 7 – 45 without the newborn infant insert.

The Infant Insert is intended to be used with the Standard Tula carrier ONLY.

What do I do with the head pillow?
The head/neck pillow can remain tucked inside the storage pocket at the top of the carrier panel.

For taller babies who may need more height on the carrier, the pillow can be worn up, snapped in to the inside shoulder straps to make the carrier taller.

Do I need to wear the neck support pillow inside the carrier for newborns?

In the Explore carrier, the neck support pillow is no longer required for the newborn position and can remain tucked inside the hidden pocket at the top of the carrier panel.

For toddlers or taller babies, you may unfold the neck support to use in an upright position, fastened to the snaps inside each shoulder strap to create additional height.

I need a new hood for my Explore carrier, but I don’t know which version to buy.

The Explore hood is now attached to the carrier by a single free-hanging loop on the inside of the carrier where the shoulder strap meets the body panel. This design is the same as our Free to Grow carrier, making the hoods interchangeable.

In contrast, Classic Explore hood attaches to the inside of the shoulder straps with a sewn a double loop connection.

Will I be able to wear the Lumbar Support?

The Explore now includes a coordinating Lumbar Support.

Removable lumbar support may be used by people with a waist or hip size of 34 inches (87 cm) and up. Do not use the lumbar support if the area your waistbelt will be positioned on measures less than 34 inches.

The padded waist of the Explore is 5” tall and 27” wide. The additional webbing can extend another 30” for up to a total of 57” in length.  The Lumbar Support is 6” in width x 3.5” height.  All carrier measurements can be found here.

*The Classic Explore does not include a coordinating Lumbar Support, and this can be purchased separately here.

Why is there a price increase on the Explore?

With the 2024 updates to the Explore carrier, we’ve introduced several new features and enhancements designed to improve your experience, including upgraded lumbar support, enhanced storage, and a polished design with interchangeable hoods.

These thoughtful improvements reflect our commitment to providing high-quality, functional products that meet your needs.

As a result, the price has been adjusted to align with these enhancements and ensure that we continue delivering the best value and performance.
