Ultrasonic wave is an acoustic (sound) energy in the form of waves having a frequency range above that of human hearing range. The sounds humans can perceive have a frequency ranging from 20–20,000 hertz (Hz). While pets can hear ultrasound frequencies, 40 kHz is already over their hearing range. |

TICKLESS was tested in 2012 by the Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases Laboratory, University of Camerino (ranked best Italian university by Guida Censis Repubblica 2011 and 2012). The results clearly showed that the test dogs, which already had a tick / flea, TICKLESS prevented any worsening of the infestation and in some cases reduced the infestations. They also showed that in dogs that were not infested prior to the start of the study, TICKLESS prevented any infestation. |

Ticks are external parasites living by sucking on the blood of mammals, birds, and sometimes reptiles. By consuming on the blood they can get larger and grow to a size to where you can see them better. Once they’ve gotten big enough they eventually move on to another host. Ticks can carry a number of diseases, most importantly Lyme disease and encephalitis.
Of the many different tick species found throughout the world, only a select few bite and transmit disease to humans. Ticks climb to the ends of leaves or branches and attach to hosts that brush against them. They can be found in many areas. Woods, bushes, grass, under leaves or around woodpiles and walls where mice and other small mammals live.
In case of a tick bite, remove it as soon as possible – the sooner the better. Do this without pushing the tick’s torso. If the tick is feeding for less than 24 hours, the likelihood of being infected with the bacteria Borrelia (which is the predominant causative agent of Lyme disease) is significantly reduced.
Fleas are tiny, bloodthirsty parasites. Extremely fast-growing animals that can trigger a strong allergic reaction, which is called flea allergy. There are many different variations of fleas. Dog and feline fleas can actually bite humans too, spreading various infectious diseases. These stinging tend to be those itchy red dots around the ankles and legs of humans, while pets give a serious scratch to the potential presence of unwanted parasites. Adult fleas feed on blood. The larvae live in the nest of the host animal, feeding on dust and organic debris. Getting rid of them can be an extremely difficult and lengthy process since fleas and their larvae can live for weeks without feeding. Using TICKLESS Pet reduces the chances of the pet bring these parasites back home, while TICKLESS Home provides full protection at all times.
But the best solution is always prevention: use TICKLESS to prevent ticks and fleas from biting you – or your loved ones.
FAQ
How does TICKLESS work?
The TICKLESS device emits a series of ultrasonic pulses that are imperceptible to humans, pets or wildlife, but interfere with the ability of ticks and fleas to orient themselves. Ticks climb to the ends of grass, leaves or branches and attach to hosts that brush against them. When you walk in such areas, they sense your smell, the carbon dioxide you breathe out and your movement with their so-called Haller organ. TICKLESS’ ultrasound waves obstruct this organ so they won’t find you.
What is this ultrasound?
Ultrasonic wave is an acoustic (sound) energy in the form of waves having a frequency range above that of human hearing range. The sounds humans can perceive have a frequency ranging from 20–20,000 hertz (Hz). Although dogs and cats hear way better than people, they are not disturbed by the very high frequency of 40 kHz, making the TICKLESS device entirely safe and harmless.
Has TICKLESS been tested by a laboratory?
TICKLESS technology underwent rigorous testing and was proven effective by a clinical study at the University of Camerino, Italy in 2012.
My dog can hear ultrasound, is it not disturbing for him?
No! Although dogs and cats hear way better than people, they are not disturbed by the soundwave TICKLESS emits. Dogs can realize ultrasound waves between 25-30 KHz, TICKLESS is working with 40 KHz, making the device entirely safe and harmless.
Does TICKLESS provide 100% protection?
In areas heavily populated by ticks, 100% protection is not guaranteed. In case of pets effectiveness depends on the condition of the animal’s coat. It is not suitable for removing ticks or fleas from pets that have already been infected. To ensure the best possible protection, we recommend taking other precautions (e.g. shampooing) before use.
I am wearing the device but I have a tick on my skin!
DON’T PANIC! The device emits a series of ultrasonic pulses that are imperceptible to humans or pets, but interfere with the ability of ticks (and fleas) to orient themselves. In some cases especially in areas heavily populated by parasites, it is possible for the occasional tick to affix itself to you or to your pet despite wearing TICKLESS, but the ultrasound waves disturb them in a way that they won’t find you (or your pet) as prey.
If you found a tick climbing on you grab it with a tissue and flush it down the toilet.
Is the device waterproof?
No. However, the device is highly resistant to moisture (IP13), which means it can be used in rainy weather or if some water drops on it. In case if it’s immediately dried out TICKLESS will most probably work flawlessly thereafter but it might affect battery life. So if your dog goes accidently into water, dry the device with a cold blowing hairdryer as soon as you can.
What is this IP certification?
TICKLESS is highly resistant to moisture and has been classified as IP13. The IP Code is an international protection marking for mechanical casings and electrical enclosures; it classifies and rates the degree of protection provided against intrusion (body parts such as hands and fingers), dust, accidental contact and water.
What do you advise when animals are outside in the rain – take the device off the pet?
When it rains, you can leave the device on the collar taken that as you get home you quickly dry it out. The only part where rust can take place is between the battery and the linking surface so we recommend you use a hairdryer which can blow out any remaining dampness.
Is it okay if I carry the device in my pocket or under the dog’s jacket?
No. Do not put the device in a pocket or bag, as doing so will obstruct the emitted ultrasonic waves.
Does it protect the back of the Pet while wearing on the collar?
Yes! Ultrasound surrounds the body of the Pet within a 1.5m radius.
Is it okay if I put on my dog only for walks?
To ensure its effectiveness, the device should remain affixed to the animal at all times. If you remove the animal’s collar at home, we recommend using our TICKLESS HOME device. TICKLESS is effective against ticks and fleas, but while ticks are outside your home, fleas are inside. Fleas are laying their eggs always close to the host, so close to the place where your dog is sleeping. Wear it always to keep the effectiveness!
How long does TICKLESS work?
Under average weather conditions (air humidity range between 40%~75%, temperature -20℃~+70℃) the Human/Hunter device is capable of operating for approximately 3000 hours, Baby/Pet device for 9-12 months.
Can I change the Battery?
No! TICKLESS is a closed system, so once you try to change the battery, you can break the device and its effectiveness can not be guaranteed anymore.
Why are the batteries NOT replaceable?
TICKLESS device is a sealed unit to ensure it works properly even if you or your pet goes out in damp weather or sizzling rain. TICKLESS is a closed system, so once you try to change the battery, you can break the device and its effectiveness can not be guaranteed anymore.
What does the LED light indicate when I press it?
Until the LED light appears, the device is working properly– and that means emitting sounds, too.
TICKLESS Human/Hunter devices can be switched ON/OFF with the button (they also switch off after 8 hours of continuous working to save battery life). In this case the LED light marks the switching ON or OFF.
TICKLESS Baby/Pet devices operate for 9-12 months after first activation. By pressing the button You can verify its continued operation at any time since the LED flashes in response.
Can I use TICKLESS together with any other tick or flea repellent?
In areas heavily populated by ticks, we cannot guarantee 100% protection so any other parasite repellent is an added shield of protection.
Can ultrasound waves trigger epilepsy in pets?
The ultrasound in the TICKLESS device is outside the hearing range of humans and pets. There has been no evidence found between ultrasounds and epilepsy (ultrasound or sound waves are even used to treat epilepsy seizures).
Where shall I put TICKLESS when I’m going for a hike?
It’s best you attach it to securely to your shoe, belt or clothing. Pets usually wear it on their harness/collar. What is important is that you should not put the device in your pocket or bag, as doing so will obstruct the emitted ultrasonic waves.
What if my dog is allergic to certain types of flea collars? Will he be allergic to TICKLESS?
TICKLESS Pet keeps ticks and fleas away without the use of dangerous chemicals – the ones animals often are allergic to. It contains no toxics or fragrances, making it safe even for young animals, as well as for elderly, ill, or pregnant pets.
